Notice from ISU TESE: 'HAPPINESS HELD IS THE SEED, HAPPINESS SHARED IS THE FLOWER' - - - JOHN HARRIGAN

My passion is to bring delight through things I can create with my hands, from clothes through bags to paintings and different types of art.

ISU TESE (Shona for 'All of Us') is a way for me to celebrate the gift of creativity and give back to the universe by sending out flowers of delight to colour our world. I create custom pieces mainly, but I envision some product lines blossoming too. I believe in the ‘mark of the hand’. ISU TESE pieces are hand crafted at home using various materials ranging from African wax print cottons, repurposed fabrics, upcycled garments, in-house developed and applied prints from hand dyeing or painting techniques on 100% African cottons and other textured natural fibres; other raw materials include drift wood and found objects of all descriptions. The idea is to use materials and produce products that have a festive yet homespun sort of appeal. It’s in no way meant to be an object of impeccable precision and perfection. What it’s meant to be is a unique object that inspires wonder and brings delight to all those who see it, and to the one who owns, wears or carries it in particular.

From bags to art, costumes and clothing to decor items – ISU TESE crafts pretty much anything which your wish and my share of creativity may lend colourful expression to. I strive to create precious and peculiar items that contribute to the flourishing of the lush forest of fabulous things out there! I want to share this with any and all who choose to stop by… I’m happy YOU did!
This mixed medium artwork (Illustration Art), with acrylic paint, graphite and water colour, has been completed at the beginning of 2019.

Masechaba means 'mother of the earth' in setswana while munamato means prayer in shona, the artist's mother tongue. The painting portrays mother nature praying for her world. Her prayers are rays of light and minerals.

The painting has been professionally framed (90 x 60cm including the frame).
